Akeredolu Was Fearless, Courageous -Tinubu As Widow Commends Sanwo-Olu

President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, described the former Governor of Ondo State, the late Rotimi Akeredolu, as a fearless and courageous man.
President Tinubu, accompanied by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, eulogised the late Akeredolu when he paid a condolence visit to the immediate family of the former governor and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.
The president, who spoke at the Olowo’s palace, said all would forever remember the former governor’s legacy.
He added that it was honourable to depart the world when the ovation was loudest, adding, “The space left by Akeredolu would be difficult to fill.”
President Tinubu also praised the late Akeredolu’s passion for good governance.
“God will be with you. Your children will do well in life. May you all end well. May God be with you and uphold you,” he prayed.
The Olowo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, thanked the president for the visit and described the late governor as a true democrat.
The traditional ruler appreciated Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s role in ensuring a befitting burial for the former NBA president.
The late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, 67, died in Germany on December 26, 2023, after a protracted illness.
Meanwhile, Mrs Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu, wife of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has revealed how Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu “singlehandedly” brought home Mr Akeredolu’s remains from Germany.
Mr Akeredolu’s widow stated this during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the late governor’s family members in his hometown of Owo on Wednesday.
“Coming today is a big deal because we are in a better atmosphere. I also express my profound gratitude to the southern governors for their immense financial contributions to the burial.
“Most especially, Lagos state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, who singlehandedly brought Aketi’s remains back to Nigeria. We appreciate this huge show of love and we are grateful and forever indebted to him,” she said.
Mrs Akeredolu thanked the president for his show of love.
