123 Ogonis For HYPREP Training

Another batch of 123 Ogonis will soon commence a training programme designed to equip them on electricals in preparation for the coming Ogoni power project.
The Tide’s source reports that the training will commence on Monday at the Skills Development Centre, Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, headquarters of Khana local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to The Tide’s Source, the training programme which is facilitated by the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) is for Ogoni citizens drawn from the four Ogoni Local Government areas of Eleme, Gokana, Khana and Tai.
Giving details of the training programme in Port Harcourt, John Yowika, the Managing Director of Petro Extra Energy Services, a COREN certified consulting firm, said his company had been engaged by HYPREP to localise training of Ogonis with such skills that would enable them participate in aspects of the ogoni power project.
Yowika, who said the first batch of the training had earlier been concluded at Saakpenwa in October 2023, added that the training is for Ogoni persons who are electricians, artisans, including those with Bachelors, Masters, and PhD Degrees from Ogoni.
