NPA, Rivers Port Set To Upgrade Facilities

The management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Rivers Ports Complex says the Port is determined to upgrade its facilities in the complex to improve its revenue.
The Authority also said it would dredge its channels to accommodate bigger vessels to the port like its counterpart in Lagos.
Port Manager, Rivers Port Complex, Mrs Kenechi Edith Okozie, stated this in Port Harcourt during the Port Managers inaugural meeting with its stakeholders.
She said NPA is working seriously at improving the facilities at the port to attract bigger vessels and investors to the complex.
“NPA is working to upgrade the facilities in the port to attract bigger vessels and investors to Rivers Port Complex”, she stated.
The Manager, who described the meeting as a farmilarisation amongst the stakeholders in the ports, called on them to proffer possible solutions on how best to improved the workings in the port.
Okezie told the stakeholders that she believed in the efficiency of customer relations service to move the complex forwards and attract investors.
She decried that low droughts is responsible for not berthing bigger vessels at the complex and promised that the challenged would soon be resolved.
“The Port need revenue and upgrading of the channels to improve maritime activities in the Complex”, she noted.
The PM also promised to provide a holding bay at the complex to cater for possible outbreak of infections and diseases that may occurred in the port.
Okezie appealed to terminal operators and other debtors in the Port to pay up their credits to enhance effective and efficient service in the port.
Those at the stakeholders meeting includes Nigerian Customs Services, Immigration, management of Bua Ports and terminal and other management of NPA, Rivers Port Complex.
