Group Lauds ONOLGA Chairman For Supporting Fubara
A socio-political group under the banner of Concerned Rivers Citizens Mandate has commended the Chairman of Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Council, Rt Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam for his unwavering support to Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the political crisis in the State.
The group in a statement it made available to newsmen yesterday described Rt. Hon. CookeyGam’s posture as” unflinching, resolute and firm in the face of the political turmoil.”
They praised the ONOLGA boss for displaying a rare leadership trait amid the chaos and political machinations against Governor Fubara, pointing out that the chairman stood firm with the democratic principles and norms, by ensuring that peace and stability reign in both Opobo/Nkoro and the State.
In their words,” One of the most commendable aspects of his (CookeyGam’s) leadership was his unwavering loyalty to Governor Fubara. Despite the immense pressure and political maneuvering that characterised this period. Hon. CookeyGam stood by the side of the governor, supporting his administration’s policies and initiatives.”
This gesture, they further stated is a sign of commitment to better the State, than pursuing selfish interest and ambitions.
They cited the recent birthday and thanksgiving service of Governor Fubara over the Supreme Court judgment, where the governor poured accolades on Rt. Hon. Cookey-Gam for standing with him.
Even more, at the traditional marriage ceremony of Amaopusenibo Sam Sam Jaja’s daughter, Opobo/Nkoro chairman also publicly participated and gave support to the Opobo icon.
This gesture, according to the group, has brought peace and harmony in the LGA, as the chairman engages with stakeholders, community leaders, youths and traditional rulers in ensuring harmony and coexistence among all people, despite their political affiliation.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Concerned Rivers Citizens Mandate, Ambassador Phillip Okuru has lauded Rt. Hon Enyiada Cookey-Gam for his commitment in transforming and developing Opobo/ Nkoro.
Amb Okuru said leaders like CookeyGam are rare, as he has displayed resilience, dedication to the betterment of communities in the LGA, which today stands as his legacy.
