Gov Idris Dissolves Local Govt Councils In Kebbi
The Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, on Monday, relieved the 21 local government Chairmen of their positions.
The governor, who received them in the Government House Chamber in Birnin Kebbi, said their dissolution was sequel to the expiration of their tenure which was February 5, 2024, as contained in the law.
He directed them to immediately hand over to their respective Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) till further notice. The dissolution also affected the 21 local governments secretaries.
Idris commended them for the jobs they had executed at their various local governments during their tenure of office.
“Let me thank you profoundly for your support to my administration, particularly, during the just concluded by-elections and rerun which were held on Saturday. We are grateful to all of you”, he said.
However, no date has been slated for fresh local government elections.
In the interim, the DPMs would run the affairs of the 21 local government councils untill elections are conducted and new elected administrations inaugurated, barring any other development.
