CNS Swimming Championship: Delta State Emerges Overall Winner

The 11th edition of the Chief of Naval Staff National Swimming Championship draw its curtain closed on Saturday with Delta State emerged overall champions with a total of 28 medals.
The Championship which held at Alfred Diet-Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, seems to be the best organised in recent times.
It was well attended by people from all works of life, including top military officers. The closing ceremony was attractive and colourful following the rendition of the Nigerian Navy band and other activities.
Speaking at the event ceremony, the President of Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Chief Chinoye Aliyu, urged all athletes that will compete in All African Games to put in their best and make the country proud, and also wish them good luck.
She uses the forum to commend coaches, officials and athletes who participated in the championship over their peaceful conduct and demonstration of true sportsmanship.
“I thank the Nigeria Navy and board members for ensuring that the championship went on successful” She said.
At the end of the championship Delta State won 12 gold, eight silver and eight bronze, Nigerian Police came second with eight gold, one silver and three bronze, while Nigerian Army occupied third position with five gold, five silver and three bronze.
