Ajuru University Begins VC’s Sports Competition

The opening ceremony of this year’s Vice Chancellor Sports Competition of  Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Rivers State  took off on Monday at the school football field.
The annual sports event which started with football matches was witnessed by people from all walks of life including the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Okechukwu Onuchuku, other Professors, Deans of Faculties, heads of Departments and students.
Speaking to sports journalists shortly after the first half of the match between Faculty of  Management Sciences and Faculty of Education in male category, Prof Onuchukwu said the major reason of the competition was to discover young talents in the school that can represent the school in future competitions.
He explained that the annual sports competition has discovered good sportsmen and women that represented the school at the last Nigeria University Games (NUGA) that saw the school on seventh position on the medal table.
“ This is an annual routine where all faculties compete among themselves. We organise this sports competition to discover talents that can represent the school in future tournaments,” the VC said.
