RSG Commences Community Health Service Delivery Scheme
A new scheme aimed at providing an efficient health delivery services at the grassroot has been unveiled by the Rivers State Government.
The scheme which had been delayed by the past administration was organised in collaboration with the National Primary Health Board, as it schooled health workers on how to leverage on community needs and challenges.
Commissioner for health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, described it as “ solution provision at the community level.”
She stressed that the scheme would leverage on the needs of the communities, by creating a two- way communication model between service providers and recipients.
Dr. Oreh who urged the participants to ensure they put what they learnt to work decried the disconnect in health delivery at the grassroots the past three years.
Insisting on collaborating with communities and other health bodies in their areas, the Commissioner sued for a new health culture that would put needs of communities ahead.
On his part, State Coordinator, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Imoh Ukpong said the scheme had been flagged off one year ago at the federal level but need to be implemented at the state and local levels.
Dr. Ukpong praised the Governor Siminalayi Fubara administration for taking the initiative to implement the programme in Rivers State.
Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Kinikanwo Green, expressed hope that it would inject efficiency in health care delivery, and lauded government for adopting the scheme.
