Rivers Police Command Commissions Tennis Court
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, on Saturday commissioned the Police tennis club court in Port Harcourt.
He stated that the reopening of the tennis court will assist to develop tennis in Nigeria and encourage Police officers to play the game.
CP Disu said while commissioning the reconstructed tennis court, that the club would enhance recreation and ensure that men of the Police. Compete favourably in tennis tournaments.
According to him their job was tedious and stressful, adding that without sporting activities to ease the stress there are tendencies for any officer to collapse and die due stress.
He commended the committee of the Police tennis club of Port Harcourt for using their hard earned money to help the command in developing tennis.
He assured the committee to be participating by playing assuring that many of his officers will also partaking in the game.
“It is a big challenge to me for setting up the Police tennis court most importantly I thank you for using your hard earned money to help us reconstruct the facilities.
Tennis is a life sport that will help officers to do more exercise. Given me a good bat I assure you that I will come out and play the game” Disu said.
Also speaking the Chairman of the Police tennis club Ebi Harry said the club was reconstructed for the common goal to improve the health and fellowship of the Police officers.
He equally said that the facilities will support to develop grassroots tennis; the club would also award scholarship and welfare intervention to their immediate host community.
