RIVCARES:Fubara Gets Kudos For Timely Release Of Funds

The Labour Intensive Public Works (LIPW) Unit of the Rivers State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Scheme (RIVCARES) has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for releasing  funds for the take off of the third phase of the programme .
Head of the Unit, Engr Prince Enyindah said this in an interview with The Tide at Saakpenwa, headquarters of Tai Local Government Area during the third phase beneficiaries training for the Rivers South East Senatorial Zone.
It would be recalled that a total of 14,500 Rivers people including youths, women and men are benefitting across the State for the third phase.
Speaking with The Tide shortly after the training, Enyindah said Governor Fubara was proactive in the release of money as far as the programme was concerned.
“The Governor has done so well.It is his proactiveness that we are here today”
He said the Governor does not waste time in ordering the release of monies meant for RIVCARES programme once it is paid into the State’s Consolidated Account. “Immediately the money got into the State Account, the Governor did not hesitate,he just minuted it out that he should be distributed to the various departments for implementation, because this programme is performance for results.
“When we perform. We get result. It is based on that result that World Bank releases further money. “That is why we are seeing astronomical increase from 14,18, to 4,230 and today we are talking about 14500,”he said.
Meanwhile, Enyindah has charged those involved in the programme to make the best use of it to improve themselves.
Addressing participants during the training, Enyindah who spoke on the rudiments of public works urged the participants to invest their monthly earnings on things that will improve their living conditions.
He charged them not to see their enrolment as a political patronage, adding that their names were not submitted by any politician.
Enyindah said their enrollment in the program was from the State Social Register, explaining that the programme was initiated by the World Bank to assist vulnerable people recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him,as community workforce, it beholves on them to work in public spaces such as markets,, community play grounds, palaces, cleaning of gutters and drainages as well as planting of trees to help combat desertification and climate change in their communities.
Speaking on money management, an entrepreneurial  catalyst for rural development, Dr Wofuri Robert told the participants not to waste their monthly earnings on things that will not improve their conditions
He urged them to choose a possibile line of investment that will enable them to develop their skills
Speaking on environmental safeguard, Mr Okechukwu Prince Osia urged them to work as a team while making sure that personal protective equipment are worn during working hours.
He also warned against indulging in alcohol, warning that any one caught in such act during working hours would be suspended.
