Monarch Honours Varsity Teacher
A univeristy teacher, Prof Adison Nwokocha, has been recognised and coronated by the Oba traditional institution in Ogba/Egbema /Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Nwokocha was one of those honoured recently by the Oba -In-Council, thus, making it over 85 persons recognised and coronated by the Oba of Ogbaland, Barrister Nwachukwu Nnam Obi.
The epoch-making event saw the attendance of bigwigs from various strata of the society with different cultural dance troups.
In his response shortly after the special recognition, the constitutional lawyer said it is an opportunity to contribute to the development of Ogbaland.
Nwokocha promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear and show some level of difference towards sustaining the existing peace in the area.
He said the right thing which is the hallmark of the traditional institutions would be done to impress everyone who has been entrusted with the mandate to govern the people.
“My community thought it wise that I should be given this special recognition which they knew I have something to offer. When you are honoured by your people, it is a rare privilege. I appreciate my people for choosing me. I promise to do my best in whatever capacity to better their lot. It is a collective responsibility. I promise to enlighten the people on the current realities towards making the community better. Service to them must done rightly without compromise and I promise never to disappoint them. I urge our people especially the youths to embrace peace and support the new Oba to serve better”, he said.
On the current political crisis rocking the State, Nwokocha advised the political gladiators involved to focus on their individual jobs and responsibilities.
According to him, the job of the former Governor of the State, Chief Nyesom Wike and every other former governors is to play advisory roles where necessary and not the other way round.
He said Chief Wike has the responsibility of making Rivers State proud as the first South South politician to be appointed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory rather than being involved in what is currently playing out in his State .
Former governor Wike should focus on his position as FCT Minister and write his name in gold at the National level
Governor Sim Fubara should as well be allowed to govern the state as their can never be two governors at the same time
Everyone should focus on his line and support each other just Rivers people supported him during his eight years reign as governor and we will have peace which is key
