The Commandant  General of the Harmon International  Chaplain Corps Academy, Prof Ikezahu Osagie Success, has said security issues should never be left to the security agencies alone.
Success who said this in an interview with newsmen  during a meeting in Port Harcourt said security must be everybody’s business.
He said the religious bodies must also give more attention to the issue of security as they have more influences on their members.
According to him, “security issues are everybody’s responsibility. Fighting crime is not for the security agencies alone.
He particularly said individuals, parents and churches must educate their wards and members on the importance of security.
In his words, “the easiest way to fight crime is to start from the religious bodies. If the pastors and the Imams have been able to inculcate the message of peace into their folks, the society where they live will be peaceful.
He regretted that most religious institutions nowadays rather than  preach the message of peace would go as far as instigating violence into their youths and members.
Ikezahu also criticised some parents for not instilling the virtue of peace in their children.
In his words, “parents must instil that moral value into their children. It begins from the home. When that is done, government and security agencies will have less work to do,” he said.
He said his organisation has embarked on series of campaigns, going round to meet parents and religious bodies with a view to making them know the importance of a crime- free society.
Ikezahu said the organisation is also working hard to bring in men of God into it, stressing that at the moment, it is acting as a platform for the unity of Christians and Moslems.
While advising the youths to join the corps, he further called on the government to provide a platform whereby the youths will be given the opportunity to join both military and paramilitary organisations in the country.
Ikezahu said Harmon International Chaplain Corps Academy is a religious paramilitary organisation that aims at protecting the rights of every religion and individuals across the globe.
He said since inception, God has been faithful as the group has been able to reach out to millions of people across the country.
Also speaking, the outgoing state Commandant of the Corps, Chaplain, Col. Gracious said the corps has carried out successful outreaches in schools,
“We have reached out to great pastors and personalities across the country. All these were geared towards promoting peace in the country”.
Col Gracious who said he has done so much as state Commandant expressed optimism  that his successors would continue from where he stopped.
