Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has confirmed himself fully fit for Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, after he missed the crucial and final Group A fixture against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan last Monday.
The three-time AFCON champions qualified to the knockout phase with a slim 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, to go second in the group on Seven points with Equatorial Guinea, who topped with a plus Four goals difference.
Tidesports source gathered that the centre-half has shaken off from the hamstring injury he picked in Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory against hosts Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday last week.
Ekong confirmed to Nigeria Sports Influence Pooja in a short video pointing to his knee and giving a thumbs-up prior to the kick-off between the Super Eagles and Djurtus.
“I’m feeling good now and my knee is fine.”
Recall that after being replaced by Kenneth Omeruo against the Elephants, Ekong was seen with ice wrapped on his right knee.
