The Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) has held the 2023 Annual Christmas Carol of Seven Lessons with a call for civil servants to emulate Christ message of sacrifice and exhibit care and love for others in the discharge of their duties.
This year’s edition featured SUBEB Choir, the exquisite choir and special group singers .
Speaking at the one-day event held at the open field of the RSUBEB headquarters in Port Harcourt, yesterday, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr Fyneface Ndubuishi Akah called on civil servants to tolerate their services they render to the public with a sense of love and care for one another.
Akah opined that Christmas is anchored on sacrifice, love and care, ,adding that Christ coming to die and save humanity was a huge sacrifice and as such, Christians should emulate the virtue of sacrifice in their lives .
According to him ,civil servants are called for service and such call must be driven by sacrifice which is the essence of Christmas celebration .
The executive chairman while admonishing management, staff and the audience at the event took his Bible text from Acts2:42, John 4:14 and advised civil servants to be diligent, committed and dedicated in the discharge of their duties, stressing that in doing so, the world will know that they have tabernacle with Christ .
The RSUBEB boss while expressing the importance of the event in the life of the board, averred that he inherited the programme and it has been rewarding in the lives of members of the board and also in the various successes recorded by his administration. “This event is a moment every staff should examine him or her self on whether he or she has performed well in the year ending. Take heed and take action appropriately and hold fast to what you have done so that you do not lose your reward”, he said.
The Commissioner in charge of Administration in the board, Chief Faith Amadi and the Director of Administration and Supplies/ Public Relations, Dr Ezekiel M.Amachree were among the people who read the seven lessons of the Bible during the event.
The climax of the event was the presentation of cash awards to the retired staff of the board.
