Rivers SWAN Lauds Rivers Hoopers Over NPBL Victory …As Gov Fubara Redeems N30m Pledge
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State Chapter has felicitated with Rivers Hoopers following their giant feat of winning the Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL), Final Four and subsequent qualification for the Basketball Africa League (BAL)
This was contained in a statement signed by Caretaker Committee Chairman (CTC), Dum Cyrill Wite and Secretary, Austin Isaac which was made available to Tidesports, yesterday.
The CTC noted that Hoopers achievement was as result of hard work, dedication and doggedness, and urged them to continue with their good performance.
They further commend the State Government for its supports towards the team including the General Manager, coaching crew and players of the team.
“We know that Hoopers will make Nigeria proud as the sole representative of the nation at the BAL” The statement said.
Meanwhile the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has redeemed his promise of thirty million naira (N30m) to players and officials of Nigeria Premier Basketball League Champions, Rivers Hoopers.
In September, the five-time Nigerian league champions won all six games to emerge champions of the second edition of the Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Championship held in Lagos.
To celebrate the team’s success, Governor Fubara announced a reward of N30m when he hosted the team at the Government House in October.
In his address, the governor urged the team to keep working hard with discipline to do well considering the support given to the team.
