RSG Recommits To Job Creation
The Rivers State Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr Chisom Kenneth Gbali, has stated that the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is committed to the creation of jobs, youth advancement and empowerment.
Speaking while declaring open the Re-Imagine Africa Conference with the theme: ‘Igniting Africa’s Digital Innovations for Global Impact’ at the Heliconia Hotel, Eastern bypass Port Harcourt recently, the commissioner charged the youths in the state to remain steadfast and committed to acquire more skills that will enable them compete with their counterparts in Africa and the world at large.
Gbali noted that when imagination is determined, destination is already on sight, calling on Rivers youths to embrace this opportunity to learn new skills, as the future belongs to those who learn more skills and apply it in a creative way.
Earlier in his speech, the Initiator of the Re-Imagine Africa, Mr. Bereni Fiberesima, disclosed that the conference was focused on unlocking Africa’s digital creative economy, stressing that the main objective of the conference was to reawaken the consciousness of Africa in the economy.
Bereni further explained that the idea was to groom the knowledge of the future generation into marketable ventures and also see how the problems in Africa can be transformed to opportunities using technology.
According to him,” Re -Imagine Africa conference is aimed at inspiring Africans to take their destiny in their hands by building tech solutions that can be globally marketable, create jobs and reduce poverty.”
The Initiator of Re-Imagine Africa, maintained that the world youngest population according to statistics shows that out of 1.3milion Africa, 60 percent of them are between 14 and 25 which proves that there’s a lot of potentials for the continent to tap from.
Describing the new generation of youths as smart population or digital creative, Bereni noted that they were born when the internet is used and they don’t know life outside the internet.
“They have potentials to do exploit and to take the continent to a super power and also the connectivity we are all enjoying today wasn’t the case in 20 or 30 years ago”, he said.
