‘Playing For Nigeria Will Be Very Tough’

South Africa-based Nigeria forward, Etiosa Ighodaro has admitted that getting a chance to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be very difficult for him, Tidesports source reports.
Ighodaro is presently on loan to SuperSport United from Mamelodi Sundown and he has scored five goals this season.
He made all the headlines last season after scoring 11 goals for Chippa United.
Ighodaro nursed the ambition of representing Nigeria at the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast but quickly agreed that he needed a miracle to make the team.
“Playing for my country is very tough. There are a lot of good strikers who are doing well in the top five leagues in Europe.
For me, I have to do more or go places, to at least get a place [in the national team],” he said.
“There is Victor [Osimhen] playing in the UEFA Champions League, Awoniyi playing in England, there are a lot of strikers. Maybe a miracle will happen, I don’t know or the coach would be fond of me.
But I feel like it would be tough to even be considered for the Africa Cup of Nations”, he said.
