The President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Eze, Mike Elechi, has charged the participants of “Make in Nigeria Conference and Exhibition”  on the need for commitment and hardwork.
Elechi said this during his goodwill massage at the Make in Nigeria conference, at the Autograph event Center, Port Harcourt, recently.
According to him, the event marked a significant milestone in their journey towards promoting and celebrating the resilience, innovation and enterprise of Nigerian businesses.
He noted that the gathering was not just celebrating an exhibition, but celebrating the spirit of Nigerian entrepreneurship and untapped potentials that lie within the nation.
The PHCCIMA President said the theme of this year’s conference, “Think, Make and Grow”, reflects their commitment to supporting and nurturing local industries, hence its belief in the capabilities of Nigerian businesses to compete globally, create jobs, contribute to national development and scale up enterprises.
Sir Elechi, who is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vintage Farms and Products Ltd., further used the medium to invite participants to attend the 17th edition of Port Harcourt International Trade Fair and exhibition at Isaac Adaka Boro Park.
Earlier in his address, the Convener of Make in Nigeria, Pastor Uche Onochie,  described the 13th edition of the programme  as the largest capacity building and merchandising event in Nigeria, adding, “for the past 13 years, we have constantly built one of the most resourcesful and engaging projects called Make in Nigeria”.
The Convener, who is also the Publicity Secretary of PHCCIMA, said the event was largely targeted at showcasing startups, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Retirees while promoting their goods and services.
He added that their value proportion was broken down into Publicity, Learning, Selling, Networking and Funding, depending on the interest of their participants.
In his paper presentation, the representative of Total Energies, Mr. Nwachukwu, congratulated the organiser of Make in Nigeria Conference and  Exhibition, saying  his Organisation, in fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR), has empowered several young Nigerian graduates in different fields of endeavour and are participating at the event to encourage local products and services.
Nwachukwu further said TotalEnergy has a plastic recycling plant in Port Harcourt, designed to recycle over 1,000 tonnes of plastic waste per annum and save over 750 tonnes of Co2 emission each year, equivalent to the volume of greenhouse which can be remoted by planting over 4,500 trees.
The Conference, which lasted for six days, featured  panelists each day, in addition to exhibited agricultural products, and paraded exciting speakers from diverse fields who   impacted knowledge and shared their experiences with the participants.
