RSHA Debates Public Works And Utlilities 2012 Amendment Bill

A bill for a law to amend the Rivers State Public Works and Utilities 2012 has scaled through the first reading on the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The bill  was co sponsored by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Martin Amaewhule  and the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency, Hon. Oko Jumbo.
While presenting the bill on the floor of the House, member representing Bonny Constituency, Hon. Jumbo said the bill when passed into law will be cited as Rivers State Utilities Protection Amendment Law of 2023 .
Meanwhile, Rivers State Administration of Estate (Small Estate Payment Exemption) Bill 2023 has passed through second reading on the floor of the House.
The Leader of the House and  the sponsor of the bill, Hon. Edison Ehie, who led debate on the floor of the House said the bill is to address challenges associated with family members accessing their inheritance following the death of their loved ones.
Hon. Ehie further explained that when the bill becomes law, it will enable deceased’s family members to request a certificate to access the estate of their loved one.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amaehule, in his submission said the House resolved that the bill be committed to the committee.
In another development, the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule paid a condolence visit to the family of a former member, the late Hon. Adonye Diri.
Hon Diri was a former member representing Opobo/Nkoro in the 8th and 9th Assembly.
