PH Residents Decry Incessant Flooding Along Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway

Some residents of Port Harcourt and environs have called on the Rivers State Government to address the flash flooding affecting some parts of the city especially along Port Harcourt-Aba expressway by Shell , market junction and Odili road.
A cross section of residents who spoke in an interview with The Tide regretted that government is yet to find solution to the problem of flooding in these areas.
They said the situation is affecting movement of persons and vehicles especially during heavy rain.
A taxi driver, Sunday Effiok, said vehicles find it difficult to ply these areas especially during rainfall.
He said many vehicles have been grounded by flooding in these areas, adding that the situation is causing hardship to the people.
Also speaking, Lady Chioma John said businesses have been affected in these areas.
She said shop owners find it difficult to operate in these areas once it is raining as the areas are normally flooded.
She regretted government silence over the problem, adding that businesses are packing out of these areas because of flooding.
John, who owns a shop at Odili road urged the government to identify the problem causing flooding in these areas with a view to solving it.
Another resident, Joseph Amadi said the situation is causing hardship to the people living and doing business in these areas.
He urged government to come to the aid of the people.
Other respondents also urged government to find solution to the problem.
