World Athletics: Team Nigeria To Earn Mega N53.8million For Gold In Budapest
Athletes representing Nigeria in the upcoming World Athletics in Budapest, Hungary will earn huge whether they finished on the podium or not, Tidesports reports.
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria earlier listed 25 athletes that will fly the country’s flag in Budapest.
World Athletics body on Saturday morning made known the prize money for both individual and team events.
For individual events, winners of the gold medal will walk away with $US70,000 while silver and bronze will earn $US35,000 and $US22,000 respectively.
Athletes who set a world record will be eligible for a special award of US$100,000 offered by TDK and World Athletics’ new Inside Track platform.
There will be prizes for positions up to 8th place in every race.
