An interdenominational interceding prayer family in Rivers State, PDP Opobo/ Nkoro Women Prayers Network, has stressed the need for organising thanksgiving to God, saying the gesture is significant.
According to the group, as Christians, the power of thanksgiving to God is significant since thanksgiving is not just a worship service or a mere expression of gratitude but a spiritual practice that holds deep meaning for believers.
The group, which gave this indication while marking its six years anniversary at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town yesterday said the members were at the church to return all glory to God for the peaceful existence of Opobo/Nkoro people, the State and the country and also for the success at the poll and inauguration of Sir Siminalayi Fubara as Governor of the State as well as the success recorded by the group as a prayer network in the past six years.
Colourfully dressed in beautiful adorable attires, the prayer network family marched and danced with joy, and bringing along with them their offerings amid rendition of melodious songs of praises in appreciation of God’s faithfulness.
Ably led by Opobo/Nkoro PDP Ward 2 Chairperson, Hon(Mrs) Sotonye Toby Fulton, the prayer network noted that the power of thanksgiving to God lies in its ability to cultivate gratitude, humility, faith, joy and community, adding that it serves as a spiritual practice that acknowledges God’s goodness and encourages believers to live the lives of thankfulness.
The thanksgiving service also saw the joyful people of Opobo/Nkoro PDP Ward 2 appreciating God with their offerings and thanksgiving to actually celebrate the peaceful election and the victory of PDP candidates during the 2023 elections and the successful inauguration of Governor Fubara.
The Chairperson of Opobo/Nkoro PDP Ward 2 thanked God for the opportunity to have successfully organised the thanksgiving event and Governor Fubara, who is the grand patron of the body for “standing by us through the years”.
The family prayer network also indicated that thanksgiving holds power for Christians, adding that this has been carefully and joyfully exhibited by PDP Opobo/ Nkoro Women Prayer Network.
“Thanksgiving is often celebrated with family, friends and loved ones.It provides an occasion for Christians to come together, share their blessings, and encourage one another in their faith journey”, it said.
While further highlighting what constitutes thanksgiving, the prayer network said, “Thanksgiving is closely associated with joy in the Christian faith. It is an opportunity for believers to celebrate and rejoice in God’s goodness, fostering a spirit of joy and celebration even amidst challenging times”, and pointed out that it also reminds Christians of their reliance on God and His sovereignty.
“It humbles believers by acknowledging that everything they have, including their achievements and blessings, ultimately comes from God’s grace”, it said, stressing that it allows Christians to express their gratitude to God for His blessings, provision and faithfulness by helping them acknowledge God’s goodness and grace in their lives, fostering a heart of gratitude and contentment.
