The member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Awaji-inombek Abiante, has hailed the judgment of the federal and state legislative Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja which upheld his election last Friday.
In a statement he personally signed, the federal lawmaker expressed delight that the petition filed by his opponent, Hon MacLean Uranta of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging his victory at the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections was dismissed by the tribunal.
According to Hon Abiante, the decision of the elections petitions court was an affirmation of the ‘Renewed Mandate’ of the people of Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency.
“This morning, the Elections Petitions Tribunal Court sitting in Abuja dismissed the petition filed by Hon. Maclean Uranta, APC Candidate for the Constituency in the last election against my due nomination and election by the people of Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency on February 25th, 2023”, he said.
While expressing appreciation to Governor Siminialayi Fubara, former Governor Nyesom Wike and other stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State and the Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas, Hon Abiante called on his opponent to end the fight and join hands with him in the interest of peace and development of the Constituency.
“I sincerely appreciate everyone who has supported us throughout this process especially our indefatigable Governor, His Excellency, Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara and our leader, the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Chief (Barr). Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the ever supportive leaders of our party (PDP) in the State and particularly in Andoni and Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Areas.
“I, in same vein, appeal to my beloved brother, Hon. Maclean Uranta to join us to work together in the interest of peace and development of our Constituency even as I pledge to partner with him and every other stakeholder in the Constituency to drive development to our communities”, he said.

He paid special tribute to his constituents for the mandate given to him, pledging not to take the confidence reposed in him for granted.

“Also worthy of special appreciation are our constituents who actually came out in their numbers to cast their votes for us which the tribunal affirmed today in their ruling. This honour and privilege I will never toy with and will do all within our powers to represent you more efficiently and effectively.

“For me, there is no victor, no vanquish because we are a united Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro FederalConstituency”, he affirmed.
