LG Boss Tasks Communities On Peace
The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, has urged Krakrama and Minama communities embroiled in boundary disputes to embrace peace to pave way for harmonious resolution of the matter.
Speaking yesterday at the site of the boundaries of both Krakrama and Minama communities, George stated that no land was worth the life of any individual.
He, therefore, charged the chiefs, leaders and members of both communities to embrace peace and harmony, warning that both communities should steer clear of the boundaries until the determination of the matter.
He urged the people to eschew bitterness and acrimony, especially over land matters, saying: “When you fight because of land and for the sake of the land, you destroy lives, those lives you destroyed, you cannot recreate them when you settle.
“Krakrama and Minama are peace-loving communities and as such let us continue to promote peace and harmonious living because our fathers lived peacefully.
“No land is worth the life of anyone and as a people, we ought to handle these boundary disputes between Krakrama and Minama communities with reasonable caution that will connote peace and development and not crisis”.
George was on a joint fact-finding inspection of the boundaries in company of the Nigerian Police Force and Department of State Service on account of a petition issued by Krakrama Community over the land dispute with Minama community.
Others who joined the boundaries inspection were five delegates, each from Krakrama and Minama communities, spectators from both communities, journalists, opinion leaders and stakeholders.
