IYD: Fubara Assures On Youth Mentorship Programme

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has promised to make youth mentorship a policy focus of his administration.
Speaking at the 2023 international youth day celebration tagged, “Green Skills For Youths: Towards Sustainability and Growth”, at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Fubara said youths need to be mentored properly for future leadership.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Education, Prof Chinedu Mmom, the governor reasoned that as leaders of tomorrow, youths need to be armed with skills and knowledge that would help them to fill in leadership positions in the future.
He, therefore, commended the state Ministry of Youths Development for organising the one-day conference, pointing out that the theme was apt and very important to the current realities in the country.
While urging youths to support government programmes, Fubara assured them of being carried along in governance, saying, “there is hope for youths of Nigeria”.
On his part, Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, said the lawmakers would make good laws that would help drive youth development in the state.
Represented by his Parliamentary Secretary, Amaewhule urged the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) to maintain its role in leading youths towards improving governance and better welfare for future generations.
Royal Father of the Day and Nyeweli of Rumuogba Kingdom, Eze Temple Ejekwu, said what was important for youths now was good conduct and exemplary lifestyle capable of creating opportunities for them in the future.
The royal father stressed that without good conduct, it would be difficult for youths to fill leadership positions, hence they need to live exemplary lifestyle.
Also speaking, the state NYCN Chairman, Amb Chijioke Ihunwo, thanked the state Ministry of Youth Development for the programme, and advised youths to always be ambassors of peace in their various local government areas.
