The newly elected Chairman of  Coaches Association in Rivers State, Asigoboka Briggs has advised Coaches in the State to be more productive and result oriented.
She stated that government should also provide enabling environment and facilities to ensure that Coaches perform optimally.
Briggs said this during the inaugural meeting of the new  executive  on Friday, at the  basketball premises, Niger/Bende Street Port Harcourt.
She further urged members of the association to exhibit true spirit of love and unity, saying that is the only way the association can progress.
“We  should be productive and result orientated to enable the authorities believe in us. We should go out to discover young talented  athletes at the grassroots so that the authorities will also have confidence in us and happy.
“For us to achieve our set goals we all must speak in one  voice and the only way for the association to move forward was to be united and love one another”  Briggs said.
The Chairman noted with dismay that Coaches train athletes without  attending competitions and tournaments, saying that it is really discouraging, consequently, appeal to the State Government to make fund available no matter how little to go for tournaments.
She further advised Coaches to be discipline and know how to present their matters to the authorities.
“ Honestly I must say that it is discouraging not to attend competitions and tournaments after training athletes knowing fully well that we have spent energy and resources to train athletes.
“I will use this opportunity to urge us to be dressing neatly some Coaches don’t know how to dress neatly and that is disgracing the association”, she stated.
Briggs commends members of the association for their peace conduct during the meeting and urged them to sustain their peaceful disposition.
