Akpabio Unveils Senate Standing Committees Chairs …Banigo Heads Health, Mpigi Niger Delta
Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Monday, announced the chairpersons of standing committees of the 10th Senate.
Akpabio unveiled the committees and their chairpersons after the upper legislative chamber concluded the screening of the 48 ministerial nominees recommended by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation.
Forty-five of the nominees were confirmed while the senate awaits security clearance of the remaining three, including Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, Danlandi Abubakar from Taraba State and Stella Okotete from Delta State.
Among those who made the list of chairpersons of committees are Ahmad Lawan, former Senate President (Defence), and Abdulaziz Yari, ex-governor of Zamfara State (Water Resources).
Others are Aminu Tambuwal (Housing); Adams Oshiomhole (Interior); Godiya Akwashiki (Air Force), Buhari Abdul-Fata (Aviation); Osita Izunaso (Capital Market); Cyril Fasuyi (Establishment); Seriake Dickson (Ecology/Climate Change); Jide Ipisagba (Petroleum Downstream); Aliyu Wadada (Public Accounts); Shehu Kaka (Special Duties); Patrick Ndubueze (Works); Solomon Adeola (Appropriations); Musa Sani (Finance); Abiru Tokunbo (Banking) and Adeyemi Adaramodu (Media).
The new chairpersons also included Isa Jubril (Customs); Elisha Abbo (Culture and Tourism); Victor Umeh (Diaspora), Lawal Usman (Education); Akintunde Yunus (Environment); Ibrahim Bomai (FCT), Sani Abubakar (Foreign Affairs); Banigo Harry (Health); Enyinaya Abaribe (Power) and Aliyu Wamakko (Local and Foreign Debts).
They also include Adamu Aliero (Land Transport); Daniel Olugbenga (Navy); Barinada Mpigi (Niger Delta); Mohammed Monguno (Judiciary); Yemi Adaramodu (Youths and Sports); Ireti Kingigbe (Women Affairs); Orji Kalu (Privatisation); Mustapha Sabiu (Agriculture); Aliyu Bilbis (Communications); and Asuquo Ekpenyong (NDDC).
