Rivers Gov Bags iEBS, SDG Awards

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has bagged International Entrepreneurs Business Summit (iEBS) and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) awards.
The Governor was honoured with these two awards over the weekend in Port Harcourt during the 2023 iEBS Summit and capacity building empowerment SDGs programme themed: “Financial Human Capacity Building As A Sustainable Legacy For The Peoples Development Towards A Better Standard Of Living “.
Governor Fubara, who was represented by Mr. Samuel Miebaka, Director, Education and counseling, Ministry of Youth Development, said the summit is timely and would expose the youths to multiple streams of income .
Miebaka, who also represented Hon. Chisom Dike, Commissioner for Youths Development, said, “the training will make the participants to become employers of labour, thereby reducing the rate of unemployment, which is the greatest problem in Nigeria today”.
He said multiple streams of income make youths to be balanced, stressing, “human capacity development, which is the theme of the summit will enable the participants and youths to achieve their set goals in life”.
He charged the participants to pay attention to the training, especially the skills and opportunities the summit would showcase.
Earlier in his welcome address, the iEBS representative in Nigeria, Amb Larry-Goodwill Akintoba Ajiola, said without effective human capacity development, most development interventions will be ineffective.
“It’s one thing to be educated and another to survive in the street of life and economy. To achieve the desired goals of life as needed to be fulfilled, one must be street smart”, he said.
Amb Ajiola, who is an International Small and Medium (SMEs) business consultant and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iEBS Matrixx Co-operative, Investment and Credit Society Limited, said the summit is organised to open the eyes of youths/ participants on the availability and accessibility of leverage.
Dr. Ajiola said to be “street smart and stay ahead of the curve would be categorised into these four areas: “strategic planning, effective communication, creative problem solving, and adaptive thinking”.
In his presentation, the United Nations Global SDGs Advocate, Amb. Amos Obi, reiterated the need for the leaders and youths of the Niger Delta to utilise the many developments and Opportunities available under the UN SDGs.
Dr. Obi, who is the Principal Innovator and CEO, Hetaved Skills Academy and Network, said UN SDGs has eight years to go, stressing, “the world is looking for innovators. 70-80% opportunities are for women and youths”.
The UN SDGs Advocate said Rivers State youths have been favoured, saying the summit would provide business opportunities, entrepreneurship skills, grants and even traveling opportunities.
Highlights of the programme was the induction of the new UN SDGs Advocates, awards and expositions of skills and business opportunities.
