KELGA Corps Members’ Lodge Best In Nigeria – NYSC DG

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Y. D. Ahmed, has described the Ikwerre Local Government Corpers’ Lodge Complex as one of the best in the country.
Ahmed disclosed this at the inauguration ceremony of the complex at Isiokpo, Head Quarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Saturday.
According to him, the lodge is a great project which ought to be emulated by other local government chairmen in the Country.
“This type of project is worthy of emulation. I think it is a project that other local governments, not only in Rivers State, but the nation in general, should strive to do something similar”, he said.
The NYSC DG noted that the project was in line with the welfare of Corps members’ policy thrust of NYSC and beseeched corps members to make good use of the project in order to enable those coming behind to enjoy same.
He also congratulated the Ikwerre Council Chairman for his two years in office, and assured that corps members in the LGA would continue to give their best for the progress of the area.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Kelga, Dr. Nwanosike, has stated that the project was in appreciation of the good efforts of Corps members serving in the LGA.
“This project today is a testimony to the fact that we appreciate the efforts of these youth corps workers. They are doing wonderfully well for us in Ikwerre Local Government. Without them, all our lapses will be shown to the international community”, he said.
Nwanosike further commended the Corps members for filling the lacuna in schools and for always ensuring that votes count during elections irrespective of intimidations by “Abuja-based” politicians and security agents in the place.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali, eulogised the Kelga boss for delivering dividends of democracy despite the economic situation of Nigeria.
The Chairman of Public Works, Ikwerre LGA, Hon. Charles Wobodo, who gave full description of the project, noted that there is another phase of the lodge yet to be completed.
Wobodo hinted also that the first phase has 58 rooms that are fully equipped by the Nwanosike-led administration.
The Member Representing Ikwerre Constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Lemchi Nyeche, during his speech, recalled how he facilitated the construction of the corpers lodge during his reign as Secretary of Ikwerre Local Government Council.
Speaking on behalf of Isiokpo Community, the Leader of Ikwerre Legislative Assembly, Hon Nwobuisi Chikwe-Tasie, and the Paramount Ruler of Isiokpo Ancient Kingdom, HRM King Blessing Wagor, thanked the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA for sitting the Ikwerre Local Government Corpers Lodge Complex in Isiokpo.
On his part, the Dean-Elect of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta and Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Blessing Chinyere Enyindah, appreciated God Almighty for giving Ikwerre LGA Dr. Nwanosike who, he said, has the capacity and zeal to work for his people.
The Chairman of Ikwerre LGA received awards of honour from the Director General of NYSC and the corps members serving in Ikwerre LGA.
