Group Trains 302 Youths On Artificial Intelligence, Others
The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) has organised a training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Security for 302 youths in Plateau State.
Speaking at the close of the five-day execise on Friday in Bokkos, Plateau State, the Coordinator of NIDO, Dr Ezekiel Macham, said the training also covered Digital Marketing, Mobile App Development, Digital Forensic, among others.
Macham explained that the exercise was organised in partnership with the Plateau University, Bokkos.
He stated that the training aimed at improving the knowledge of the beneficiaries toward advancing Information Communication Technology (ICT) as tool for economic growth.
“In our contemporary society, you will agree with me that ICT is the way to go; ICT now rules the world.
“Today, through ICT, Indians stay in their country but work and earn money in America, that’s the power of ICT. So, we decided to put this training together to improve the knowledge of these young people and acquaint them with necessary skills in key areas of information technology”, he said.
The Vice Chancellor of the Plateau University, Prof. Benard Matur, thanked NIDO for the partnership and promised to sustain the initiative.
He explained that with the training, NIDO had keyed into its plans to make the institution the hub of ICT development in the state and country in general.
“As an institution, we plan to commence Certificate and Diploma programmes in artificial intelligence, cyber security, and other aspects of information technology.
“This will enable us produce experts in the field of ICT that will assist in tackling insecurity, promote food security and solve other societal problems currently facing us”, he said.
The Tide’s source reports that the group also presented some medical equipment to the state Specialist Hospital, Jos.
