Lawyers of Omerelu have been urged to up their game by showcasing high quality representation at any fora they may find themselves in order to continue to project the good image of the community.
Former Judge of the State High Court, Justice Assor C. Woryi (rtd), gave the charge in his Welcome Address during the first Omerelu Lawyers Association (OLA) meeting at the instance of Justice. Igwe P.C. Igwe in Port Harcourt recently.
Woryi said Omerelu Lawyers must ensure that all their conducts are geared towards uplifting the image of the community irespective of what it might cost them.
According to him, the coming together of Omerelu Lawyers under one roof was not out of place considering the way things are moving within and around the community.
He further tasked OLA to be the voice of the community to among other things, drive development to the area.
He also expressed joy that no Lawyer from his place has been found wanting and urged them to maintain the tempo.
In the non-availability of Power in the Community for over two years, he appealed with the group to rally round and ensure that a way forward was provided.
The Moderator of the Association, Geoffrey A.O. Joseph, who was full of joy for the birth of the group, thanked Justice Igwe C.P . Igwe over his courage towards the formation of the body.
Joseph, however, enjoined all hands to be on deck so as to place the group in its rightful place in the society.
Messrs Celestine Wosa Nwenwe and Chris C. Didia, also thanked Justice Igwe for the lofty initiatives and reassured of plans and support to take the group to its expected height.
Nwenwe had earlier warned against any form of political attachment to the group, saying that such will prevent it from moving forward.
It will be recalled that Omerelu had its first Lawyer in 1974 in the person of Justice A.C . Woryi (rtd).
