Elder Statesman Condemns Call For Amnesty For Boko Haram, Bandits

A former Vice President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NisciA), Alhalji Abubakar Orlu, has described as evil,calls for Amnesty for Boko Haram members, bandits and terrorists in the country.
Recall that former Zamfara State Governor, Ahmed Sanni Yerima had called on President Tinubu to pardon Boko Haram members aswell as terrorists and bandits.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Alhaji Orlu said the former Zamfara State Governor does not know the difference between Niger Delta militants granted Amnesty by Former President Umaru Yar,Adua, and the Boko Haram sect.
According to him, “the armed bandits, terrorists, and Boko Haram members are in the same category and their activities cannot be compared with that of the Niger Delta agitators who had clear-cut agenda and not criminally minded”
He said Boko Haram members, bandits, and terrorists killed and are still killing several thousands of defenseless Nigerians in the Northern part of the country, adding that Niger Deltans are disturbed and sad about these terrible happenings,
“So what is it that warranted Ahmed Yerima to plead with the government to pardon these criminals?”
Orlu urged the former Zamfara State Governor to stop comparing Niger Delta agitators with bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, and Boko Haram members.
The elder statesman also urged the Federal Government to restructure the country by allowing resource control.
He blamed the massive looting across the country on the availability of oil money, regretting that Niger Delta has remained the poorest region in Nigeria despite its huge oil and gas potentials.
“The massive looting in the country is due to the availability of oil money, yet, the Niger Delta is the poorest region in Nigeria, while the suffering of Nigerians is a result of bad governance”
He said the country will continue to suffer until people in positions of authority do the right thing
