The Passport Control Officer, Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, DCI Audimusa Maisudan, has warned against patronizing criminals who disguise as passport staff of the Command.
Maisudan gave the warning when he received an award of the ‘Outstanding Personnel Relation/Motivational Officer of The Year 2023’ from the Coalition of Niger Delta Journalists in Port Harcourt recently.
He expressed regrets that people could be so mean by tricking unsuspecting members of the public into having an illegal passport deal with them.
“Applicants who wish to process their passports should come straight to the office. We are for your services, no needless of patronizing quacks”, he advised.
The immigration boss pointed out that the Passport process does not require a third party, saying the processes is seamless.
“The saboteurs even charge unsuspecting members of the public seeking Passport Application very high, thereby making them pay double of the original price”, he said.
Maisudan warned that those masquerading as passport officers risk imprisonment if apprehended.
The Tide learnt that the Port Harcourt Passport Unit under Maisudan has an unbroken record of printing over 7,000 passports on monthly basis.
