DGC Commences Training For Journalists In Rivers

De Gratia Centre for Media Rights and Education (DGC) is set to organise its inaugural workshop scheduled in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital today.
The workshop, which is the first in a series of workshops and seminars lined up after the unveiling of the Centre at the Main Auditorium of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Press Centre, Moscow Road recently, will commence retraining and grooming of journalists and media practitioners in Rivers State.
The Executive Director of De Gratia Centre for Media Rights and Education, Pastor, Paulinus Nsirim, said the firm is a non-profit global brand, determined to improve the practice of Journalism through strategic grooming and re-training programmes both within and outside Nigeria.
Nsirim in a statement explained that the organization’s core value is to be a global brand in offering qualitative training in media practice, and to serve as a fountain for ethical research and training.
The Executive Director revealed that the keynote presentation would be made by Prof Godwin B. Okon of the Rivers State University (RSU) on the theme: “Post 2023 Media Agenda Roadmap: Conceptualizations and Opinionizations”, with some focus on unveiling the media agenda for post 2023 Nigeria.
According to him, other expert presenters will include Prof Walter C. Ihejirika, Dr. Sunny Mbazie, and Mrs Ibim Semenitari, all under the distinguished chairmanship of Dr. Jossy Nkwocha of Indorama Nigeria.
“The special event will be declared open during the plenary by the Special Guest of Honour, Hon Frank Owhor, former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Rivers State, while some serving commissioners and local council chairmen in the State are expected to grace the occasion at the Goshen Event Centre, Opposite AIT, Ozuoba, Port Harcourt, by 9am.
The Board and Management of De Gratia Centre for Media Right and Education expects participants to use this rare opportunity to improve their skills in a sensitive aspect of media practice which surrounds Agenda-Setting and Media Role-Modelling.
