Rivers United FC Supporters Club Gets CTC
A seven-man Caretaker Committee (CTC) of Rivers United Supporters Club has been inaugurated in Port Harcourt to oversee the activities of the body.
Speaking during the occasion recently, the immediate past Commissioner for Sports in the State Barrister Christopher Green said the action was necessitated by the need to bring peace and unity among members of the supporters club, saying that the tenure of the previous executive elapsed since last year October.
According to him, there were so many reports and petitions written against the past leadership for not carrying members along and maladministration.
“Rivers United Supporters Club was registered with Nigeria Football Association and the Association was registered with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), so that is why they are not autonomous to do whatever they like.
“ I don’t have interest in anybody who becomes the chairman and all that but my interest is how Rivers United will become champions again.
“The club does not belong to anybody, so nobody should behave as if he or she owns the club”, Barrister Green said.
He further assured that the Supporters Club members were to attend the ongoing Super Six competition in Lagos State.
“Your first task would be to be in Lagos for the Super Six, I will do all I can to source for money.
“I want transparency and probity in this CTC. Any money money given to you should be accountable” Green stated.
In his response, the Chairman of the CTC, Amb. Otis Asonye thanked the Barrister Green for the confidence he repose in him.
According to him, his adminstration will run an open door policy and will be accountable.
