Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged the newly elected members of the  10th National Assembly from Rivers State to consider national interest in electing the leadership of the National Assembly tomorrow.
The Governor further admonished the Rivers State NASS members-elect to key into President Bola Tinibu’s vision of promoting national unity and effective leadership by supporting the preferred candidates of the President in the election of presiding officers at the Senate and House of Representatives.
Governor Fubara, who gave the charge on Friday when members of the National Assembly members-elect from Rivers State paid him a courtesy visit at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, urged them to use their legislative functions to attract development to the State.
Fubara said “ I want to congratulate you on your victory at the polls and to urge you to be good ambassadors of Rivers State and Nigeria by supporting the vision of the President”.
Responding on behalf of the National Assembly members-elect, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Barinada Mpigi said the federal lawmakers would throw their support behind the preferred candidates of President Bola Tinibu and commit themselves to making meaningful contributions towards promoting national unity and cohesion.
Mpigi  assured the support of the Rivers NASS members to Governor Fubara’s administration, adding that they would not fail to attract development to the State through their legislative functions.
Fubara, on Saturday restated the commitment of his administration towards the provision of quality healthcare for Rivers people while inspecting two key health facilities, the Dental Maxillofacial and Opthalmology Hospital and the Prof. Kelsey Harrison Hospital being reconstructed by the Rivers State Government.

He affirmed that the projects were already at completion stage and will be part of other projects to be commissioned in his first 100 days in office, adding that when commissioned, the facilities would provide essential healthcare services to the people.
Fubara, also on Saturday, decried the lack of commitment and delay on the part of contractors handling the Andoni axis of the Ogoni, Opobo, Nkoro, Andoni Unity Road after collecting the full contract sum from the Rivers State Government.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the inspection of the road, Fubara said the contract would be revoked and reallocated to a serious and competent contractor to deliver the project on schedule.
