Assassination Attempt :Monarch Calls For Police Protection

The Paramount Ruler of Okpeden Clan in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, King Iginihhiom Ishmael Sunday, has called on security agencies in the state to come to his rescue and provide security for him and his family over an alleged move by some unidentified people to assassinate him.
Sunday said the call became imperative following an alleged attempted assassination on his life in the community recently.
He made the call while speaking to newsmen in his palace at Abua recently and added that there had been incessant attacks on the people across the entire community in recent times by hoodlums whom he said had been terrorising the community over the years, stressing that nothing had been done to halt their nefarious attacks.
He therefore appealed to the state government, Abua/Odual Local Government Council, the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of
Police, Rivers State as well as other security agencies to arrest the suspects who have been terrorising indigenes of the community.
The paramount ruler averred that his life and those of his community members were under a serious threat and added that the people were now living in fear.
“We want the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police and the Director of State Services (DSS) to beef up security in our area in order to arrest the people terrorising the community and those who attempted to kill me. If not for the grace of God and some community people who protected me, I would have died, “he stated .
He alleged that some members of the community were among the assailants who came to kill him.
