Rivers Assembly Screens, Confirms Four Nominees For Appointment As Commissioners

The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed four commissioner -nominees for appointment into the Rivers State Executive Council.
The new commissioner-nominees include Prof Zacheaus Adangor, Dr Dakorima George-Kelly, Hon Isaac Kamalu, and Prof Chinedu Mmom.
The four nominees, who appeared before the house at 9am on Tuesday, May 30, with 35 sets of photocopies of their credentials, along with original copies of same, also presented copies of their tax clearance certificates for the screening exercise.
In a motion onbthe floor of the house, the nominees were directed to leave the hallowed chambers.
The motion was moved by the Leader of the house, Hon Martin Amaewhule.
His motion was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Constituency 2, Hon Christian Ahiakwo.
In the motion, Amaewhule urged the house to allow three of the nominees leave the hallowed chambers based on the fact that, as members of the immediate past executive, they had done very well and did not need to be questioned on their previous record of performance in government.
However, the lawmakers also requested Kamalu to take a bow since he was a former member and officer of the house as chief whip in the 6th Assembly.
