Barely three weeks to the swearing in of Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu as President, the Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in Niger Delta Region (MOSIEND) has appealed to the President-Elect to appoint Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as a minister in his cabinet.
President, MOSIEND, Ambassador Kennedy Tonjo West, made the appeal during an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
He said the appointment of Wike into his cabinet would usher in national unity taking into cognizance the strategic position of Rivers State in the country.
“I call on the President-Elect to kindly consider and appoint Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike as Minister of Transportation or Works in his proposed Cabinet”, he said.
West insisted that appointing Wike into the federal cabinet would add tremendous values to the incoming government as he needs no introduction in the Nigerian polity.
He also urged Tinubu to consider the deft political calculation and structure put in place by Wike that gave him (Tinubu) victory.
“Rivers State deserves two ministerial slots in addition to other appointments as the only state in the South South to deliver the President-Elect through the directive and instrumentality of Governor Nyesom Wike”, he said.
. According to West, Wike’s performance in infrastructural development across the state is impressive and capable of earning him the ministerial slot.
“Ceding the two slots of appointment to the State will serve as a mark of appreciation for supporting and voting him ( Tinubu) to victory in the 2023 Presidential election in the state”, West declared.
