Etche’ll Never Forget Wike -Anyanwu
Elder statesman and prominent Rivers son, Prince Emma Anyanwu, says Governor Nyesom Wike will forever be remembered by the people of Etche ethnic nationality.
Prince Anyanwu stated this in Port Harcourt shortly after the presentation of certificate of office to Eze Godwin Ogu as the Onye Ishi Agwuru of Ulakwo Clan and Second Class stool government recognition by Governor Wike on Tuesday.
According to him, he was so much elated at the honour done the people of his clan by the governor, saying it represents a milestone in their history.
He was particularly happy that the recognition has further portrayed Etche people as peace loving, endearing and industrious.
He called on Eze Ogu to make good use of the new position and justify the confidence reposed in him by the governor.
“Let me task the traditional ruler to make good use of this opportunity, he must further united the people, promote peace at all times and ensure greater development of the clan,” he stressed.
Speaking in an interview, the newly recognised Second Class traditional ruler lauded Governor Wike for the recognition and elevation of his stool.
He stressed that the official endorsement from the Rivers State Government has opened a new chapter for him and one that he would use for the good of the people and the state at large.
“This honour and recognition is not for me alone, it is for the people of Ulakwo, Etche and Rivers people at large. I will use this position to promote peace, development and good of our people.
“Let me also thank our illustrious son, Prince Emma Anyanwu for always fighting for the good of Etche ethnic nationality, we will be always proud of him and his generosity,” he stressed.
Speakeing at a reception for the traditional ruler, the Chairman of Etche local government area, Dr Obinna Anyanwu stated that the official recognition, presentation of certificate and staff of office is a good development to the people of Ulakwo, Etche and Rivers State at large.
He noted that his administration will work with all traditional rulers in the local government area to sustain peace, development and growth of the people.
According to him, “Let me express our gratitude to Governor Wike for this great honour and recognition of our traditional ruler, we are indeed humbled by this favour and grace.
“I welcome this opportunity as it affords us the opportunity to further deepen our resolve to work with all recognised institutions to promote the greater good of Etche people.”
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff, Etche local government area, Promise Nwankwo expressed gratitude to Governor Wike, saying by the singular act, the people of Ulakwo now have their own clan, thus taking the total number of clans in Etche to six.
He noted that the honour would be remembered by generations and urged Eze Godwin Ogu to use his new position for the benefit of mankind and Etche people in particular.
