The Rivers State Police Command has arrested about 55 suspected cultists in some waterfronts in Mile 1 and Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
Sources close to the area told The Tide that a combined team of personnel drawn from Anti-Cultism, Octopus Strike Force, Mile 1 Police and Azikiwe Police stations made the arrest during a raid of the waterfronts on Tuesday night.
The raid came barely five days after warring cult groups in Diobu reportedly agreed to a peace deal and declared cease fire in a cult war that claimed some lives.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in an interview with our correspondent in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, confirmed the raid and arrest of the alleged suspects by the Police.
Koko, however, did not disclose the exact number of persons who were arrested during the raid.
The Police image maker stated that the raid was in connection with the recent cult clashes in the area, adding that the arrested suspects are being profiled and anyone found culpable would be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.
