Basketball: Lagos Raptors Academy Wins Atlantic Confab In PH

The Captain of Raptors Academy Basketball Club, of Lagos, Victor Sunday has expressed joy as his team won the just concluded Atlantic Conference, in Port Harcourt.
Following the victory, Raptors has picked the sole Division one ticket.
Trailing by over six points to the opponents, High Flyers of Benin in the third quarter, the Raptors Academy took the fourth quarter of the final game by the scruff and pushed through to garner 75 points over 63 for High Flyers.
It was tough, Victor said, “but we believed that we could overturn the deficit in ten minutes if we played more as a team than individual displays and so we charged ourselves during the interval and God helped us to achieve just what we wanted”.
Also speaking,  Abba A. Kaka, chairman of the Atlantic Conference, National Division 2 League of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), said he was fulfilled at how the competition rolled till the end, given the skills and technical mastery on parade by players in Division 2 of the National League.
He also expressed appreciation to Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, the people of the state and President of NBBF, Engr. Musa Ahmed Kida for what he called “a wonderful and peaceful hosting time” in Rivers State.
All the matches of the competition among six teams where Favour Arena (Port Harcourt) placed 3rd, were at the Basketball Court, Niger Street, Port Harcourt…from Monday, May 15 to Friday, May 19, 2023
Also assessing the competition, Coach Fubara Onyanabo, a very popular youth developer in the sport and representative of the National Division 2 League in the State, was ecstatic at the standard of basketball played by all the participating teams, especially the semi-finalists: Raptors Academy, High Flyers, Favour Arena and Anambra.
