The technical manager of Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, Stanley Eguma, has expressed displeasure over missing scoring chances by his players.
He stated that his players created a lot of scoring chances but could not convert them after they scored one goal against Dakkada FC of Akwa Ibom State in their last match of the ongoing abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), on Monday.
Eguma said this on Monday morning in his post match interview shortly after they defeated Dakkada FC 1-0 in the match day 15 of the NPFL at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
“My players’ inability to convert scoring chances was a huge problem for the team but we are going to work on it,” Eguma said.
The match 15 encounter was suspended due to  heavy down pour after 52 minutes of play and the remaining 38 minutes were played the following day ( Monday)  morning. Before the suspension, United was on one goal lead at the 19th minute.
“ I knew that the game was going to be tougher  than Sumdays, because Dakkada FC was fighting to swim out of relegation waters.
“They were playing with their last blood for them to get results.I  think our  play was not bad just that we missed a lot of chances in front of goal.
“ My players were careless in front of goal, this is what I am considering in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter final we are now.
“This season, we created a lot of chances but found it difficult to convert them. That is my headache”,  Eguma stated.
The technical manager pledged that before next game the technical crew will work on the players’ ability to convert goals.
