RSUBEB Lauds World Bank Over Literacy Training For Teachers In Rivers

The executive chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB ), Ven Fyneface Akah, has commended the World Bank for choosing the state as a centre for the six days literacy training workshop for junior and primary school teachers in the state. Describing it as a way to strengthening basic education and extending it to children with formal education training .
Akah stated this while declaring open a six- day post literacy training and capacity building workshop organised by the World Bank in partnership with the RSUBEB in Port Harcourt, recently .
The state RSUBEB boss expressed gratitude to the world bank for the training and averred that both the teachers, pupils and students would have huge benefits from the workshop ,even as he called on the benefiting teachers to maximize the benefits of the training to improve on their profession.
Also speaking , the World Bank National Consultant for Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA), Dr Mohammed Akhali expressed satisfaction with the conduct and implementation of the BESDA programme in the state .
Mohammed, while congratulating the facilitators, opined that they do not only teach in the classroom but also go extra miles to visit homes and houses to reach out to the out- of -school children and bring them to their various learning centres across the state .
According to him ,it was the mandate of the word bank to provide life- long learning for children to excel ,adding that participants would be awarded certificates at the end of the training .
Earlier in her address, welcome ,the Director ,Planning ,Research and Statistics RSUBEB, Mrs Joy Ojirika, while congratulating all the participants ,adding that the training came as a reward of the splendid performance of the RSUBEB BESDA backed award programme .
