Wike, Service Chiefs Lay Wreath At PH Cenotaph …As Armed Forces Remembrance Day Grand Finale Holds, Sunday
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has given assurance on hosting a comprehensive and memorable 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD), ceremony by the Rivers State Government.
The SSG, who is also the chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the AFRD, made the statement during a meeting with members of his committee in his office, last Tuesday, in Port Harcourt.
The SSG confirmed that the Grand Finale for the AFRD will hold on Sunday, January 15, as part of the nationwide annual event to recognise and honour the fallen heroes; gallant men and women, who paid the supreme price in the defence of peace, unity and prosperity of Nigeria and the world at large.
Adding that Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, who is the special guest of honour, would inspect the Guard of Honour and lead the service chiefs and heads of agencies, to lay wreath on the grave of the Unknown Soldier, as well as, release the pigeon as a sign of peace.
He noted that the event would kick-start by 2pm, and urged stakeholders, members of the public and the committee to be seated before the arrival of the governor.
Members of the committee later inspected the Isaac Boro Park Cenotaph, venue for the Parade/Wreath laying activity.
