Violent Crimes Have Reduced In Rivers – Lawyer
A Port Harcourt based human rights lawyer and social crusader, Mr. Chijioke Agi, has expressed optimism that better days are ahead following the drastic reduction in violent crimes in Rivers State.
Agi who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday expressed gratitude to the state government for the feat.
He remarked that the reduction in the rate of violent crimes could not be achieved without the support of the Rivers State government.
He pointed out that the festive period witnessed an unprecedented peace and urged all security agencies in the state to carry out their responsibilities diligently for a better environment.
Agi commended the police commissioner in in the state and security planning committees of communities in the state for better surveillance.
He said that he was optimistic that the security agencies in the state would do well during the 2023 general election.
Agi noted that the peaceful atmosphere in the state would attract investors.
He described peace, law and order as vital ingredients for development of any community and explained that no community could do well without peace.
He said before now cultism, kidnapping and robbery had been the bane of the state.
He said for better service delivery, the communities and law enforcement agencies must work hand in gloves to achieve desired goals.
Agi noted that the law enforcement agencies must not be lulled to sleep because of the achievements so fare recorded.
He stated that the security agencies must continue to work with natives in order to sustain the tempo.
