Kwara NUT Hails Gov Over Housing Estate For Teachers
Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara Branch, has commended the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over his planned housing scheme for teachers in the state.
Chairman of NUT in the state, Mr Oyewo Bashir, who spoke in Ilorin, described the proposed housing scheme as a welcome development, stating that teachers were happy with it.
Bashir, while stating that the initiative was the first in the history of the state, pledged the total cooperation of the teacher with the state government.
“Governor AbdulRazaq has turned around the education sector in Kwara, as teachers get their salaries and entitlements as and when due.
“The Governor has also embarked on massive reconstruction and rehabilitation of schools across the three senatorial districts of the state, including capacity building training for teachers.
“It is a welcome development and it is the first time any government in Kwara has thought it wise and deemed it fit to make teachers more comfortable.
“Therefore, the government of Mallam AbdulRazaq deserves huge commendation for the kindness,” he said.
According to the NUT Chairman, one of the most convenient things that human beings need and desire is comfortable accommodation.
“If the State Government has deemed it fit to capture teachers with the intention of providing a housing estate where they will have the opportunity of getting their personal houses, it is a thing of joy to NUT and teachers in general.
“We are glad about the development and we look forward to a good working relationship, as we also pray for the actualisation of the project,” he said.
