Group Lauds Wike For Siting RSU Campus In Etche
A non-governmental and socio-cultural organisation under the platform of Aso Rock Committee of Friends International, has lauded the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for his vision of establishing the Faculty of Agriculture campus of the Rivers State University in Abara, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
President of the association, Comrade Anthony Onyema, who gave the commendation during end of year party of the body, described Wike’s initiative as a practical measure of promoting extensive research in agricultural development by tapping into the vast potentials in the area.
Onyema also stated that the extension of the facilities of the Rivers State University to a rural base would lead to integrated development by providing employment opportunities for the rural populace and opening up the area to urban status.
Speaking on the vision and objectives of the body, the president said the platform was rallying point for progressive minds to contribute ideas that would enhance the welfare of its members as well as promoting community development.
He pointed out that the body has plans to expand its membership to all the 36 states of the state, including the Diaspora.
In his remarks, a member of the body, Eze Tony Ofurum, who is the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of the Etche campus of the Rivers State University, also thanked Wike for sitting such key project in Etche, and assured that the community would ensure the protection and preservation of the facilities.
He said, “The people of Abara and Etche in general will remain eternally grateful to Wike for sitting the Faculty of Agriculture campus of Rivers State University in Etche, this project will not only promote academic research but create employment for the people and enhance speedy development in the area, we assure the governor that the facilities will be protected”.
