Senate Confirms Onochie, 14 Others As NDDC Chair, Members
The Senate has confirmed the nomination of the Special Assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, as the chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Senate, at the plenary, yesterday, also confirmed 14 other nominees as board members of the NDDC.
Both the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Niger Delta had earlier screened Onochie alongside 14 others for the NDDC board roles.
Reacting to the confirmation, Lauretta Onochie, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, for having the political will to nominate her and others for the commission’s top jobs.
Onochie described Buhari as the “lover of Nigeria and the Niger Delta”.
She equally expressed appreciation to National Assembly members and leaders of various political parties in the country.
She stated: “Many great thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari, the lover of Nigeria and the Niger Delta.
“Thank you to Baba’s aides, who stood by us, all through.
“Thank you to all who supported us, from party Leaders across the political divide to the Senate President, Senators, Speaker, and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives.
“Same depth of thanks to Niger Deltans, our families, friends, and Nigerians. God bless you all abundantly.
“When the Lord took away the captivity of Niger Delta, we were like them that dreamed.(Psalm 126: 1-6),” Onochie said.
