Rivers Students Drum Support For PDP Candidates
The Peoples Democratic Party Student Wing in Rivers State has held a “Reminder Meeting” to restate members’ commitment to work for the success of all candidates of the party in the state for the 2023 elections.
During the well-attended meeting of students’ leaders in various LGA and tertiary institutions; the Chairman of the Student Wing, Comrade Reuben Imaitor, stated that the PDP was the only party that can protect the interest of the students’ community.
In his statement, he revealed that most candidates of some other parties were now doing what they’ve never done just to entice and deceive the students’ community into making wrong decisions come 2023.
“Do not allow yourselves to be deceived with what ‘they’ are sharing to students- All Fake. I wonder why Rivers State students should vote for parties that have not done any tangible infrastructure in tertiary institutions in the state.
“The worst mistake any Rivers State student should do is to vote for a party that kept our brothers and sisters in University of Port Harcourt in the house for over seven months.
“Those students in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and Rivers State University owe Rivers PDP their votes come the 2023 election, because as a courageous leader, Governor Nyesom Wike, has made sure that the two state-owned universities are not affected in the long ASUU strike, executed modern infrastructure and established and built new campuses of RSU to accommodate-decentralise curricular activities”.
Imaitorcharged members of the PDP Students Wing to remain committed and dedicated to the ideologies of the party, and not relent.
“Yes, I know that we all have worked and are still working just to galvanise the students’ community for the party here in Rivers State. Please, don’t relent, even if you are not appreciated monetarily (now), one day, God will remember us through our leaders, and we will smile.
“One thing I can boost of PDP in Rivers State is that it will tutor you all to great leaders, and not leaders that will want to lead your people from Abuja without knowing what they are passing through”.
The Emeritus student leader and coordinator of the wing also used the opportunity to appreciate Wike for the massive infrastructure projects in all tertiary institutions owned by the state and the billions of Naira given to support all the institutions.
“Bursary is not the problem at this point in time. Governor Wike’s strategy is timely and the best. I was a student of Mass Communication Department – there were no classes for us to even seat, talk less to learn, but now, we have Faculty of Media Studies – is bursary more important than good learning environment? No.
“Now Governor Wike has finished the infrastructure- the NEW Rivers Vision of continuity will come and pay bursary.
“This is the reason why we unveiled the SMS FOR SIM.STUDENTS MOBILIZERS FOR SIM-with this movement, we intend to canvassfor more students to support the continuity of a prosperous Rivers State”, he said.
The meeting had in attendance – Comrade Anosike Israel, Rt. Hon. Divine Chiamaka, LGA executives, school executives and new members interested to be part of the wing.
